Together for a Clean Environment

On International Environment Day, June 5, the second waste collection campaign took place in Iserlohn-Sümmern. Dedicated employees from the site once again set out to free the Sümmern-Rombrock industrial area from carelessly discarded litter.

Equipped with gloves, litter pickers, and bags, the teams spent an hour collecting everything that doesn’t belong in nature – from packaging and cigarette butts to unusual items.

In total, around 120 kg of waste was collected.

As in the previous year, the HR department once again recognized outstanding achievements:

  • The three teams with the highest amount of waste collected per person:
    Rebecca Pahlke, Sebastian Grütling, Philipp Gabrisch, and Christian Spyra collected 9.05 kg of waste;
    the apprentice team (Can Turan, Nils Stausberg, Robin Ewert, and Finn Geist) collected 7.4 kg;
    and Heinrich Broda, as a “one-man team,” collected 7.1 kg.
  • The apprentice team scored twice, also finding this year’s “special item” – a sign from the Hotforming/Trailer Axle loading area.

“We are thrilled that so many colleagues took part again, despite the unstable weather,” says HR Business Partner Patricia Wüllner, who helped organize the event. “The campaign once again showed how much waste lies in the fields and along the roadsides, and how carelessly our environment is being polluted. That is very alarming. At the same time, the campaign also shows how much a group of volunteers can achieve in just one hour.”

Afterwards, participants were thanked with pizza and drinks.
