2nd Social Apprenticeship Project: Generations in Dialogue

A special visit, many conversations, and genuine encounters:
On 4 February 2026, it once again became clear at the Attendorn site just how valuable social engagement is in vocational training. The apprentices, together with training supervisors Vanessa Kolm and Michael Isphording, carried out their second social apprenticeship project.

Proven partnership with Caritas

As in the initial project in July 2025, the cooperation partner was the Caritas senior shared living community at Alten Markt for people with dementia. This time, nine residents, accompanied by their house manager Doris Maiworm, visited our site.

“Story Café” – Training then and now

Under the motto “Story Café”, personal exchange took center stage.
The apprentices presented their training professions in small groups. In preparation, they had taken photos of their workplaces and created informative posters.

A lively dialogue quickly developed: What did training look like in the past? Which professions have changed? What has remained the same? The visitors from the shared living community actively contributed, brought their own photos, and shared stories from their professional lives.

A look behind the scenes

A short company presentation, a shared lunch, and a tour of the training workshop and selected machines rounded off the visit and provided the seniors with fascinating insights into today’s working environment.

As a thank‑you, the guests presented a lovingly handmade gift filled with sweets for the apprentices – a gesture that brought great joy. “It was a very successful day, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed it. The event will be remembered for a long time,” said Vanessa Kolm and Michael Isphording.

Outlook

The continuation is already planned: the next joint event will take place in autumn 2026 – stay tuned!
