KIRCHHOFF Automotive – one team worldwide
As a global player, we offer our customers in Europe, Asia and North America comprehensive know-how in the areas of economical lightweight construction and crash performance. With the advanced technology of partial press hardening, KIRCHHOFF Automotive is able to produce steel products with different strength ranges and thus weight- and crash-optimized body components.
In 2024, 33 million passenger cars and light commercial vehicles were produced in Europe and North America. The approximate proportion of cars containing at least one part from KIRCHHOFF Automotive is
Our Technologies
FORMING
This process is the starting point of our production chain. On modern presses we manufacture complex sheet metal parts in wall thicknesses from 0.6 to 12 mm.
Our Technologies
JOINING
For the connection of our components the different melt and cold joining processes are used.
Our Technologies
SURFACES
Corrosion protection is important. First and foremost we rely on high quality cathodic dip painting.
Our Technologies
MACHINING
We use modern CNC machining centres to process extruded aluminium profiles. This enables us to produce complex finished geometries with tight tolerances.
We achieve tight tolerances for press-hardened components by using 3D laser trimming. We use high-precision portal laser systems with a laser power of up to 6 kW.
Engineered for your Needs
Advanced, validated body-in-white and chassis solutions with CO2-reduced steels, developed in collaboration with leading steel manufactures
Innovative manufacturing process with new steel grades - for improved crash performance with lower material usage
The optimal solution for every requirement: individually tailored manufacturing technologies and material applications
Enabler for green steel
Did you know, ...
… that KIRCHHOFF Automotive uses up to 74% renewable green electricity at all its locations worldwide? This enables us to reduce CO2 emissions across our entire operation.

Group
The KIRCHHOFF Group comprises four business divisions:
KIRCHHOFF Automotive, KIRCHHOFF Ecotec, KIRCHHOFF Mobility and WITTE Tools
Over 240 years of innovation – Our history since 1785
KIRCHHOFF Automotive traces its roots back to 1785, when Stephan Witte founded a company in Iserlohn, Germany, originally producing sewing needles.
In 1894, Friedrich Kirchhoff established the press and stamping plant Stephan Witte & Co., laying the foundation for the company’s long tradition in metal forming. Over time, production shifted from needles to steel products for rail vehicles and, eventually, the automotive industry.
By the mid-20th century, the focus had fully transitioned to metal processing and stamping technology. With this step, KIRCHHOFF Automotive became a trusted partner for innovative and safe body-in-white and chassis solutions.
The KIRCHHOFF family has solely owned the KIRCHHOFF Group for four generations.
